Paul Richards: drummer

Paul Richards is a friendly, flexible drummer/percussionist based in Cambridge, UK. Over the last 21 years Paul has played venues all over the UK (full tours, festivals etc) and has toured China, as well as literally hundreds of gigs in his home city. Alongside the live shows Paul has had the pleasure of recording for a wide range of artists.

Paul drums for, alongside many others, critically acclaimed, multi award-winning band Fred’s House (with whom he has just completed a third album and UK tour), acclaimed folk/rock band, Glymjack and he is also the house drummer for 110-strong choir, We Are Sound (collaborators with Basement Jaxx, Fyfe Dangerfield, Boo Hewerdine and Megson). Projects he has featured on has received extensive nationwide airplay including BBC 6music, BBC Radio 5 and Channel 4. Alongside playing with bands, Paul also has extensive experience drumming for comedians, having hit drums for the likes of Mark Watson, Helen Arney, John-Luke Roberts and Dominic Frisby.

Paul’s debut ‘solo’ album (as much as he plays multiple percussion parts on it), The Argument, was released in 2020, under the name of The Mr. Richards Drum Orchestra. It’s received a generous amount of airplay on the BBC.

Versatile to any musical situation, Paul has played everything from heavy rock to silky jazz, acoustic duos to epic choirs, small acoustic gigs to full-scale musicals. Paul can always be found hitting his drums/percussion, and is always open to new projects – if you need a drummer or percussionist get in touch! Remote studio recording is now also available so if you need high-quality studio drums on your existing project do drop us a line.
