New album from Fred’s House
Fred's House (the band Paul hits drums for) have released their third album – the glorious, occasionally bitter, but all the more exciting, Careless. Over a year and a half in production, this is the final album from the 'original' line-up of the band, with singer/songwriter Griff Jameson departing after the band's hugely successful UK tour at the tail-end of 2018 to promote it. The album is available in all the usual stores now, do check it out! Fred's House have recently replaced Griff with a new member, with live gigs and further opportunities resuming in April 2019 after a period of rehearsals. Check out the events tab on here for the dates.
In the meantime, Paul recently recorded drums for the new Steve Logan album, Chasing Hands with the Devil, which will be released later in 2019.
Harvey Greenfield is Running Late
Paul's first new solo play since his award-winning piece, Short Plays for Marvellous People, is a frantic comedy called Harvey Greenfield is Running Late. A fast, ambitious piece which is overly difficult to perform (Paul purposely wrote a play that involves a lot of running as an incentive to get fit), it follows a man who over commits himself to...everything, but just about manages to get away with it. The show is partially based on a true story. Harvey Greenfield... will be Paul's fringe and tour show for the year, check out the events tab for dates as and when they're confirmed. The opening performance is currently scheduled for The Swindon Fringe in April.
The Complete History of Pop - on tour
Still Paul's most successful show to date, even if that annoys him a bit, The Complete History of Pop will be touring throughout 2019, taking in arts centres and small theatres across the country. As always, the format is simple: Paul will host, but will not always have total control of the room, as his guests attempt to get through 60-odd songs that tell the history of pop without arguing too much. For a majority of the tour shows, Paul will be joined by regular collaborators, comedians Rachel Creeger, Stylophobia and Mel Byron, plus singer James Duncan.
As a drum teacher in Cambridge (UK), Paul remains in huge demand and is currently fully-booked for weekly/fortnightly lessons. He does however still run his PAUL RICHARDS WILL MAKE YOU A DRUMMER IN A DAY course every now and then if a spare Saturday or Sunday arises, it's a one-to-one course that lasts approximately four hours. Drop him a line if you fancy being fast-tracked into the rhythmic world.
My First Eleven
Paul has just launched a new project in which he attempts to meet all of the Spurs starting 11 from the first ever game he went to. He's got himself all excited about it, check out the page here.
